The art of mindful creation,
honoring tradition and
embracing the moment.
Hanato Atelier is a space for thoughtful making — where hands move with care, cultural traditions are honored, and creativity becomes a shared ritual.
We invite artists from diverse backgrounds to lead seasonal workshops, offering not only technique but moments of stillness, discovery, and connection.
Rooted in traditional arts yet open to contemporary approaches, we explore practices such as Sumi-e, Wa-toji, Ikebana, and rattan weaving. At the heart of it all is the hand — shaping, sensing, remembering.
Our workshops take place in a welcoming studio inside Het Badhuis in Haarlem, where nature, community, and creativity meet.
Let’s make, connect, and reflect — together.
Upcoming workshop
At Hanato Atelier, upcoming workshops are more than classes — they are spaces of mindful creation. Each session is shaped by natural materials, cultural heritage, and moments of quiet presence.
Led by artists from diverse traditions, our seasonal offerings invite you to explore practices rooted in history yet open to contemporary expression. Here you’ll find the workshops that are currently open for registration.
Sumi-e Course 2026 — In Progress
A new Sumi-e course for 2026 is currently in development.
The Shodō & Sumi-e: Winter sessions on 11 and 18 are a gentle introduction — a chance to explore the materials and see if you’d like to continue into a deeper ink painting journey next year.
