Japanese Ink Painting at University of Amsterdam

I had the pleasure of giving an ink painting workshop for Amsterdam University students during their welcoming week.

The theme was “Future Meets Nostalgia” — something that deeply resonates with my own art practice. I introduced one of the most important motifs in East Asian ink painting, Bamboo, and later invited students to create their own paintings inspired by a meaningful memory from the past — something from their heritage, home, or family — to carry into the future.

I was truly impressed by their focus, curiosity, and personal expressions. Through sharing my experience, I also learned so much from them.

It was an inspiring day for me.
